About the Company

The origin of Rolling Press goes back to 1987 with the opening of Shakespeare Mailing Service in NYC’s Times Square Theatre District. Our initial goal was to help actors advance their careers through the use of business marketing strategies. This was born from the founder’s love of theater and his desire to start a business that was uniquely New York! Every day we would see 2 to 3 dozen actors in our office, printing their headshots and photo postcards, updating their resumes with every new success, and then regularly mailing updated messages with photos to their individually selected list of agents, managers and casting directors, the frontline professionals most prominent in influencing an actor’s path to success.

Within a couple of years one of our clients, interning at The Actors Studio, was asked by its president actor Paul Newman, to find a company to handle a fund raiser mailing. We got the job. It was much larger than the targeted mailings we had done for actors, and we made more money! A light bulb went on and we launched a new business mail division, investing in the specialized equipment and software allowing us to become a top direct mail firm in our region. We quickly became the company of choice to promote theatrical productions, and handled projects for all types of business, non-profits and arts organizations.

We navigated many changes in our industry and the world. The internet and email began a fundamental shift in the way we communicate, followed by social media and ecommerce. Together they evolved to be the most significant and sophisticated mass marketing tools in use today. As many companies ditched direct mail practices that they once relied on, many direct mail firms shifted to digital marketing or simply closed their doors. We did neither, and found new ways to help our clients with their print and mail promotion.

Re-branding as Rolling Press allowed us to shed prior limitations and reach new audiences, while retaining and delighting existing customers. In addition to providing standard print and mailing promotion, we’ve added exquisitely crafted print products so your promotion stands out from the crowd! We also shifted our focus extensively in the areas of trade show exhibits, showroom displays and retail merchandising.
